"Einstein's Ellipsoids"

Lots of irrelevant stuff deleted. Let's get down to business.

============================================
The short answer to John is that he interpreted what Einstein said
BACKWARDS.

xi = R
=========================
xi = x' * g and x' is independent of time -- according to Einstein.
You are wrong. Try again.

TA-DAH!

You are right, except you didn't say why x' is independent of time:
Because AE set t=0 in x'=x-vt.

If you now understood that xi = R and x = x' = R/g, the length in the
lab frame, you would have the correct answer. But you won't like it.

==========================================
You stupid ***, you've used L, R, xi, x', x, lab frame, rest frame,
k-frame, K-frame, no idiotic kappa-frame because you didn't know
what that was, "Lorentz transformation" where Lorentz was not
involved, you are fucking clueless.
xi = x' * gamma, where gamma = 1/sqrt(1-v^2), but you don't like
it. Tough ***, that's what Einstein says it is.
==========================================
I see you need some help in reading Einstein, John.
==========================================
You stupid despicable rude ***, it is you that lies and can't
read.

Let's take it one step at a time.
---------------------------------------

§ 4. Physical Meaning of the Equations Obtained in
Respect to Moving Rigid Bodies and Moving Clocks

We envisage a rigid sphere of radius R, at rest
relatively to the moving system k, and with its centre
at the origin of co-ordinates of k. The equation of
the surface of this sphere moving relatively to the
system K with velocity v is

xi^2 + eta^2 + zeta^2 = R^2

----------------------------------------
I typed in the greek letter substitutes because I
can't copy and paste this font.
===========================================
Ok, I'll help the old man cross the road...

Follow this carefully:

http://www.fourmilab.ch/etexts/einstein/specrel/www/figures/img56.gif

See, that's a Universal Resource Locator (URL).
fourmilab.ch/etexts/einstein (a directory you dont have to worry about)
specrel/www/ (special relativity)
figures/ (the author's directory for his figures)
img56.gif ( a Graphics Interface File)

All you need do is click on the
[xi^2 + eta^2 + zeta^2 = R^2 gif with greek letters]
with the RIGHT mouse button;
a window will appear, at the bottom of which will be "Properties".
Click on that and another window will appear. You can now copy
and paste the character string, as I have above.

But from its
placement in the surrounding text, you can verify
that I did it correctly.

===============================================
You can save yourself a lot of mistyping by point and click,
copy and paste.

The greek-letter variables are in the moving system, in which the
sphere is at rest. You can tell by looking back at the last part of
Section 3.

Let us reason together, Brother John. What does this
equation mean?
===============================================
It means, Bonehead, that "We envisage a rigid sphere of radius R,
at rest relatively to the moving system k", so the sphere is moving
and is length dilated.
===============================================

It is a condition that when satisfied by the greek-
letter variables says that they show a
point on the surface of a sphere of radius R at rest.
==========================================
It is NOT "at rest". It is moving. It is resting on a train
seat, the train is the moving system k. That's is why Einstein
is using greek letters, but the stupid *** wants to confuse
fuckwits like you.

"We envisage a rigid sphere of radius R,
at rest relatively to the moving system k" -- Einstein.

===========================================

When eta and zeta are zero and xi = R, the point is
also on the xi axis.

Next,
----------------------------------------
The equation of this surface expressed in x, y, z at

the time t=0 is

(xg)^2 + y^2 + z^2 = R^2

----------------------------------------
Here, again, I had to copy the equation by hand and I use g as gamma
as you do.

Now where did this equation come from? Two things:
you want to say x' instead of x. That's OK, as I came
to see, if you know the relation between x' and x,
which is x' = x - t.
=========================================
WRONG! x' = x-vt.
When x = 0, vt is the length of train BEHIND the
"origin of coordinates"
=========================================

You displayed this relation in
one of your posts. And you see that at t=0, x' = x.

Fine!

Now the other thing: What do x, y, and z represent?
=========================================
x, y and z represent the sphere in the track frame, the
"stationary" frame, the K-frame, the rest frame, the lab
frame, but
NOT the train frame, the "moving" frame, the k-frame, the
whizzing around the lab in a paper airplane frame.
=========================================

In section 3 before, just finished, AE has finished
deriving the Lorentz Transformation equations.
========================================
Bull***, they have nothing to do with Lorentz.
========================================

Look
there at the four equations together. You will see
that they relate greek-letter variables to latin
variables. The greek variables belong to a frame in
which the sphere is at rest, the "sphere" frame. The
latin variables belong to a frame in which the sphere
is moving towards +x. It is the "lab" frame.

========================================
Einstein has mixed the latin R with the greek xi to confuse
you, dumb***. He should have use Rho.
But ok, in the dilated "moving" "sphere" "k"-frame we
contract to get back to the "lab" "K" "rest" frame.
So the faster the sphere moves, the longer it grows.
That's the exact opposite of Lorentz's "aether pressure
contraction" where the rest frame is at rest with respect
to the aether and anything moving gets shortened.
======================================
We are going to set the latin time to zero, so you can
save mental work by doing so now. Using the LT
equations, it is simple to substitute for the greek
variables and get the second equation I copied over.
=====================================
They are NOT LT equations, you fucking IDIOT.

Are you still with me, John? Because we are almost
through.
=====================================
Miles in front of you, Bonehead.

Let's do the last step your way. You want to relate xi
and x. What you really mean is you want to set
y=z=eta=zeta=0 as well as t=0 to select the points on
the x- and xi-axes where the object intersects. This is how we find
out whether the sphere has dilated or contracted. The value of xi in
the "sphere frame" is R,
and we seek the value of x, which I will call R_motion, since it the
value in the "lab frame", of what used to the the radius of the
sphere.

Now comparing the two equations, we get xi = x * g.

Correct?
========================================
NO, you fucking IDIOT!
xi = x' * g
= (x-vt) * g
= x' * 1/sqrt(1-v^2)
= (x-vt) / sqrt(1-v^2)
and LORENTZ says
xi = x' * sqrt(1-v^2)
Hence the Einstein length dilation is NOT the Lorentz contraction.- Hide

Not bad for an old codger, John! We agree that
Einstein says, or would have said before he set t=0:

xi = (x-vt))/ sqrt(1-v^2/c^2)

At t=0, which is when the sphere center passes
the origin of the "lab" frame, x = length in the x direction of the
distorted sphere when regarded from the lab frame:

xi = gx

I think you actually agreed that xi under the specified conditions
eta=zeta=y=z=0 satisfies

xi^2 = R^2 by the very first equation in Section 4,

so x = R/g

which is a contraction.

Maybe now you will say that Einstein proved a contraction, but
Lorentz proved a dlation. I don't have access to Lorentz's
papers; I leave that up to you.

And thank you for the tip on how to copy unusual fonts in newsgroups.
That is very helpful to us newbies.

Uncle Ben
===============================================
You are welcome. We engineers are very helpful, we even help stupid
arrogant old farts cross the road and teach them to read.

Neither Lorentz nor Einstein proved anything, both were as uselessly
incompent as you.

The Einstein length dilation which increases with increasing velocity
is NOT the Lorentz contraction which decreases with increasing
velocity. Therefore the Einstein did not derive the "LT" but an
entirely different crackpottery.
Therefore Bonehead Green Jr, P.I., Phrenology D. is a proven idiot
