Hi,
I am currently reading "Statistical Optics" by Goodman. In this book
he gives a very good analysis of the SNR of the intensity
interferometer under conditions of thermal light and cross-spectral
purity:
SNR = (degeneracy paramteter)*(visibility)^2
For thermal light at optical frequencies, the degeneracy parameter
makes the SNR of the intensity interferometer quite poor when compared
to the amplitude interferometer. I am wondering if anyone knows (or
can find) what would the SNR be if LASER light were used instead of
thermal light? He does not delve into this topic.
Any insight would be appreciated!
Roger
