I don't know if it's out of print or not, but it's very easy to get at the
university book store, here at U of Illinois. The copy I bought was used,
although I didn't specifically mean to grab a used one. So, I'm not sure
about the availability of new ones. But they don't seem to be in short
supply here, and I know mine was a lot less than $500. Our actual textbook
is Pollack&Stump, BTW, but Purcell was recommended.
