Plenty of low-dimensional chaotic systems do this:
Lorenz
Rossler
Duffing
Double Scroll
4D Rossler
Magnetic Dynamo (similar to Lorenz)
Just look through the journals PRE and Chaos over the last 15 years.
But maybe you're looking for a PDE or high dimensional system which has
elements of turbulence. I'm sure that's been done, too, but I'm not as
familiar with the literature.
I would suggest a good Google search and a serious literature search
including the plasma physics area. This is your PhD, after all.
