They both follow Hamilton's Principle Of "Least" Action. Essentially
what it means is that all the paths cancel except one, and that is what
we observe.
My second question: Why cannot the phenomena of ''light' be 'scaled'
for research purposes, to a much much slower wave length
-- or, is this already being done?
Well, electromagnetic radiation goes only one speed. You can do
experiments with water waves and such, the analogy is useful but not
that close.
Are you saying that variable gradients of entropy exist in mathematical
proofs?
