Noether charge & generators of symmetry

Hi,
I have the following question. I'm wondering if anyone could explain
to me the mathematics behind the (physics) statement that the noether
charge of an infinitesimal symmetry is the generator of the symmetry?
I have tried finding the answer in the lecture notes on classical
field theory by Freed. But there he never makes this connection. Any
help or reference is very much appreciated!
Cheers,
Ygor
