I'm in a rather cool position. Years ago I rather foolhardily
decided that I could solve some great math problem to prove just how
smart I really was, and I began work on the Kepler Conjecture and
Fermat's Last Theorem.
Years of rather dumb arguments with often simple mistakes started, and
it wasn't too different from what just happened with what I thought
was this important new way to factor integers.
I'd get frustrated, become convinced I had achieved my Quixotic goal,
start posting about it, and for a while berate people who didn't
accept this "great discovery", and then eventually the delusion would
collapse.
That went on for years, and as I tried ideas out, a few people on
sci.math became dedicated in replying to me, and insulting me.
You see, they mostly quit bothering with my ideas--and there's an
argument for that making sense I guess--and mostly would just insult
me, as they fought to control my postings.
Well people trying to control my postings just bugged me enough that I
wouldn't stop posting!
Years went by.
These people would insult me, and I'd keep posting, and coming up with
math ideas that tended to collapse.
But there was a method to my madness, and eventually I came across an
approach that worked mathematically, and it has withstood attack to
this day as it must, after all, it's math.
You don't even hear about it much because it's too powerful for
posters to attack directly, and like I said, mostly they just insult
me anyway!
What I discovered was that I could use a somewhat complex tautology
like
x+y+vz = x+y+vz so that it's
x+y+vz = 0(mod x+y+vz)
with the "mod" discovered by Gauss to pull apart polynomials.
I was working to pull apart x^p + y^p - z^p, which is why I have
*four* variables, as part of this idea is using one additional
variable, as a free variable--an additional degree of freedom.
And wouldn't you know this approach is extraordinarily powerful.
The math is so simple that I wrote a key paper of only a few pages
where there's no room for an error to hide. I found a journal to
review it, it passed peer review, was put up on the journal's website,
then sci.math posters emailed attacking the paper, and the chief
editor Ioannis Argyros panicked, yanked it *immediately*, lied to me
in an email about it, and went off to Greece on vacation.
Here's a link:

You can see where now they just say "withdrawn" but at least they
mention my paper!
At first they just yanked ALL MENTION OF IT, and then put up it was
withdrawn pending review, and finally, after I complained, settled on
just saying it was withdrawn.
Pure math and pure research is vulnerable, which has been my point for
a while.
Mathematicians in the area of "pure math" aren't worried about
accountability, and increasingly people aren't believing them.
Years ago, during all that arguing and insulting, when I was mostly
wrong, I told you all that I'd bring down the mathematical
establishment, and you're doing most of the work to make that happen.
Nothing like attacking a correct mathematical argument, and proving to
the world that they can't check you people to yank down all the
edifices of the "pure" research area.
I'm on schedule for my task, the collapse of current math society.
Some interesting events happened recently as *two* mathematicians of
some note made major claims of discovery, one saying he'd proven the
Twin Primes Conjecture, and one claiming (yet again) to have proven
the Riemann Hypothesis.
More importantly, they were mostly ignored by the mainstream media.
Good thing too as the one with the Twin Primes has already had to
acknowledge a mistake. Those two sound like me!!!
People do not *believe* you people any more, and the pain will spread
from "pure" mathematics to "pure" research as that's the big plan.
Ultimately the day will come to yank your funding, and it will be easy
because NO ONE will believe anything you say that can't be checked by
other means.
That will be the end of "pure" research.
You people are kind of dumb. Many of you insult me and congratulate
yourselves as you imagine I'm being held down, while I send the strong
message that mathematicians DO lie, as if no one can check. But
people CAN check, and look through my paper, or look at it and get
really confused and realize that they are usually asked to just trust
you.
It's not a very trusting world, if you hadn't noticed, but WAIT, it
used to be when it came to "pure" research.
You people never got it, did you? How could I break math society if
you just accepted correct results? What would the fun have been?
Where would there have been a point?
I'd have just looked mean and stupid for calling mathematicians all
those nasty names if they just did what they were supposed to do, but
that didn't happen.
And come on, we both knew it would never happen.
I have always been safe from you people doing the right thing because
many of you *are* charlatans, and you will sit back and hope, and
wait.
I am safe from you because I undestand you, and I know what's inside
of your hearts and souls.
Insults will follow this post, and more blows against "pure" research
will then be struck, as I use your energy to help you destroy
yourselves, and one day, the funding will cease, and none of you will
be able to get a press release taken seriously, no matter what your
claim is.
I've infected your domain. The patient--"pure" research--is terminal.
