There is a report on www.cnn.com now that explains not all went well in the
SpaceShipOne flight.
First the trims failed (they had to use backup) and caused it to roll (vertical)
90 degrees a couple of times, and got it 20 miles of course, there was also
a load bang and some part of the airframe near the rocket engine had a dent...
I have seen that 'nonstop around the world' plane taking of and land (on TV),
that Ruton designed, the wings were bending soooooo much.
How much can the 'composites' have?
Are they brittle?
Metal has metal fatigue, do composites have something similar?
If not it is OK, but if 'composite fatique' exists, I see big problems.
Anyways it all seems to have been designed to 1% below breaking point?
If that is so, disaster is build in.
I know of racing sailboats that simply broke into.... Same material?
Just curious.
No have not bought a ticket yet....
