TJ: the required height H goes up with the square of horizon L. It's
8" up for 1 mile horizon L, but for 2 miles you have to be up 4 times
as high, namely 2.667 ft. Here's a couple of values:
1 mi .667 ft = 1 x .667 = 8"
2 2.667 = 4 x .667
3 6 = 9 x .667
4 10.667 = 16 x .667
5 16.67
6 24.00

You can have H = L^2/2R or L = sqrt(2RH).
