There is absolutely no evidence linking Saddam Hussein and Al Qaida.
Even the Bush regime has admitted that. In fact it makes no sense to
believe that Saddam, who ran a secular government and was interested in
nothing but clinging to power, and was reviled by Osama Bin Laden for
his secularism, would do anything to encourage or empower a group which
would have been happy to see him overthrown (and which therefore must
be pretty happy about the results of our invasion).
That at any rate is my evaluation and analysis.
