I missed the bit about animal dung when I googled it.
Seriously, though, it _is_ an interesting bacillus, with really remarkable
behavior for such beasties. As far as I could tell, it's also completely
benign.
And as to being common in animal dung -- well, really, at least it doesn't
kill the animal, chop it into bits, and then eat part of the corpse, the
way most humans do...
