The word "latex" means an emulsion. Since natural rubber starts out as an
emulsion bled from the plant, "latex rubber" (or just "latex" confusingly)
is a bad synonym for natural rubber.
Latex paint, for instance, has nothing to do with natural rubber.
Calling natural rubber "latex" is like calling gasoline "essence" (French)
or ethanol "spirits", using an easily-confused morphological property
instead of a proper name. There are many latexes, essences, and spirits
other than the common meanings for these terms.
