No Bob. I used to thought that too as you. In the same way.
But years ago, I've changed my mind because scientific method is based on
our perceptions. And we can't derive scientific method from a mere
reasoning, (philosophy).
I'm afraid that text book we studied at university about Galilei, Francis
Bacon, Descartes, have ruined our mind!!!
That was the period of the Church! Those men discovered a good method not
using reason, but using senses, first of all "vision", observation.
And scientific method is based on observation and experiment.
