All that knowledge of how it's /supposed/ to be, all that semantic
quibbling, and you still can't keep Relf's posts from starting new threads.
Tell me why a regular home user like me, with little knowledge of the
technical aspects of computers, who uses usenet regularly and can drive just
about any news client around, should care what you call a sort when it seems
to prevent you from doing the most basic task a usenet reader would want to
perform; that is, read the posts I want to read and keep them where I want
them?
You think Relf is rude for "deliberately screwing around with data that
everybody else uses to sort their unread posts." Here you seem to use
'sort' in the way you say I mean 'thread.'
If not, if you use it the way it's used in 'the biz,' then it's not me, as
the user, who uses that data to sort, but rather it's a process hidden from
me and one which does not effect me in the *slightest* because I can
configure my news reader to keep Relf's posts exactly where I want them.
In the practical v. theoretical debate, you /sound/ as if you come down on
the side of practice, and yet, in practice, you are the only one who seems
to have trouble keeping threads intact.
Might be all that theory, ya think?
