Horsepower is constant from the engine.
The Transmission gears only change the Speed-Torque curve,
If it is normally a 2:1 and speed it 100 and Torque is 100, then change the
gear box to 4:1 then speed would be 50 and torque is 200.
When you shifting gears, that is what the transmission does is change the
ratio, normally from about 2.7:1 ( Lowest gear) to 0.8:1 (highway, highest
gear) The gear box is a fixed ratio that divides further and doesn't change
when shifting gears.
If you want more torque, (you started with 2.25:1) go to a 3:1 but you will
loose on speed the top end, instead of 120 MPH, at 6,000 RPM you will only
be able to do 90 MPH at 6,000 RPM. Torque will go from say 100 to 133. not
that much.
if you went to 4:1 the top speed would be 67.5 miles per hour, torque 177
(which means you killed your car, can't feel the torque, and it goes slow)
(Torque should be up around 200 to 300 to feel it good, and then tires)
best to start with a BIG engine. Best is to go buy a used muscle car they
are cheap and fun, then sell it to someone else when you done with it.
