Nature--"The Sun is more active at present than it has been for over
8000 years according to a new method for determining the level of
sunspot activity in the past. Sami Solanki of the Max Planck
Institute in
Katlenburg-Lindau and colleagues in Finland, Germany and Switzerland
have developed a technique that relates the number of sunspots to the
concentration of carbon-14 in tree rings. However, the team insists
that
this high level of solar activity is unlikely to be the main cause of
global warming (Nature 431 1084)."

Are you familiar with Kopeki's prediction of solar output. His
prediction is right on schedule. Also, the large retrograde
north-moving vortice in the core flow indicates that the geomagnetic
field is in the process of reversing polarity, which may be related
to the increasing solar output. One might expect that as the sun
warms the Earth the permafrost line will move toward the poles and
the glaciers and polar icecaps will become liquid water. The
retreating ice is liberating trapped methane hydrate, which some
believe will have a more significant effect on global warming then
all of the other greenhouse gasses combined.

The Precambrian varve data is a remarkable recording of the effect of
sunspot activity on weather in the distant past, and now researchers
have resurrected the tree ring recordings for yet another look at
data closer to the present?

Could Hollywood be right? Is Kopeki right? Are the geomagnetists
right?
