The photoelectric effect does not *prove* that light is composed of
particles. The reason people think that light is composed of particles
(photons) is because they don't understand how a wave structure
(wavicle)
can propagate without dispersing. The photoelectric effect and Compton
scattering provide very good evidence for the quantum of EM radiation
but
they don't prove it. You have to do something like the following to
prove
that light is composed of quantum objects.
========================================
The wave structure of light is derived from Maxwell's equations that
discribe a continuous and dispersive structure of a spherical wave;
therefore, a plane wave is not a paricle structure yet only
particles can form the photoelectric effect. I assure you that this
is correct. If you don't believe me ask someone else. Quantum
mechanics the QED uses Maxwell's plane wave to form a particle
structure is violates the law of conservation of energy since
Maxwell's structure of light has an arbitary length.
