We're on the "don't call" list. It works rather well. I remember one call
from a phone company, who are apparently exempt because we have a phone. I
made a lot of noise, and they put me on their private don't call list.
Charities and politicians still call. I either hang up, or when feeling
mischievous, answer politely and then put the handset down on the table for
5 minutes or so.
