What's a good source for technical drawing? Something that explains
details like specifying surface finish and heat treating and welds.
Something that collects the accepted symbols for pumps and regulators and
BNC connectors and MHV connectors and other electrical and mechanical
peices typical in a lab, which grad students represent by semi-random
geometrical shapes that only mean something to themselves? Something that
covers, say, detailed shop drawings, but also schematics of gas handling
systems. Preferably with many and varied examples.
I have Moore, Davis, and Coplan's "Building Scientific Apparatus", whose
only flaw is not being longer, so they tend to give a superficial
treatment of a lot of subjects. And I've browsed some books at the
library at work, and they all seem to be about 40 years old and are more
about drawing in general. I already have an idea how to draw, I want to
learn how to communication specific and detailed information on shop
drawings and schematics, and make sure they're complete.
