Thanks for the great idea! A projection device certainly should work
well, and would make it possible for me to again read books from my
existing library.
What you refer to as "my day" may well be the same as mine. It has
been many years since I graduated from school. It does seem that
school has gotten much easier now, and from what you say, it sounds
like the books they use are not helping. My brother the math teacher
recently told me that the "educators" now "pad" SAT scores with 150
extra points - evidently in an effort to hide how badly the education
system has declined. I recently tutored a younger friend in business
software and basic math, so that she could get a better job. It was
truly amazing to discover that although she had graduated from high
school, she did not have any idea what negative numbers were - and this
is a smart woman who learns very quickly. It wasn't that she didn't
want to learn this very basic part of math, she just didn't know it
existed.
As to my complaint about Uncle Al's comments, it was not the knowledge
he shared. He is clearly a brilliant man. It was the manner in which
the knowledge was delivered. I think that genius is a gift to be
shared, and the sharing of it is generally more effective when it is
done constructively, without hostility or aggression.
Thanks again for your great idea. I have greatly missed my books.
