The scriptures were written by Jewish religious persons who wished to
justify the power of the kings of Israel and legitimize the taking of
the land from the aboriginal inhabitants. The Rashi (R. Shlomo Itzick)
said the reason why the tanach started with creation and not the
election of Abraham by G-D, was to establish that G-D made the earth,
therefore He owned it and could give any portion of it to whomsoever He
pleased. That is nifty propaganda for any group of folks claiming to be
G-D's Special and Chosen People. As a Jew I am semi-embarrased to admit
that this claim as exactly the same form as the Nazi claim to being the
Super Race (therefore Special and Chosen by nature). That sort of
thinking can only lead to grief.

Don't believe anything you read and only half of what you see and hear.
