(Born "from above" is the direct meaning. Born "again" is a metaphorical
interpretation)

In other words, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he was born there,
i.e. he came from (born from) there (above) in the first place. This is
explicitly stated in another verse of John. I'm sure you can find it if you
want to.

Since material bodies do not originate in the kingdom of God, they cannot
see it. So when the verse says "one" and "he" it is not talking about the
body, but the self.

In other words, whoever or whatever has these qualities can not go to the
kingdom of God. Therefore, by John 3:3, they cannot have come from there.

Since material bodies do not originate in the kingdom of God, and since in
Romans 7 it is explicitly taught that sin resides in the body and not in the
self, it is the material body which will end up in the "lake of fire".
