Uh, Vendicar? Reality check.
"The Internet" existed as a reasearch project going back to 1969.
Initially running IMP then NCP protocols, IPv4, the current network
stack, was defined in 1981 and completely replaced NCP in 1983.
Other than brief failures, there has been continuous "Internet"
standard connectivity available to sets of computers for over
35 years now, and almost 25 years with this set of protocols.
Clearly the lifespan of continuously available IPv4 protocol
connectivity is the minimum reasonable definition of the "Internet",
and I believe that extending that to the overlapping and initially
identical set of NCP and IMP connected systems is perfectly valid.
Certainly Jon Postel, Vint Cerf, and the others who were doing
Internet work in the 1960s and 70s believe and claim so.
For someone who is going on about ignorance in society,
you aren't doing enough homework.
