Hi, someone posted many of the positive reviews of Ward's books, so I
thought I'd counter that in the interest of being fair and balanced by
posted the negative reviews.
I have read "Roosting chickens" and after reading it I spent a lot of
time and energy checking the facts that Ward states in the book. I
found some of them to be undeniably true but many, many of Ward's
statements were totally false in my opinion.

"Native American" and used Affirmative Action to get his university
position even though he has green eyes and no evidence to support his

What an evil, sadistic person this guy is. Cheering for the terrorists
and implying that the 9/11 victims deserved to be killed. According to
Churchill, anyone who works to promote capitalism deserves to be
killed. Hmmm...I work for a big corporation - should I be killed by
terrorists also? What a filthy, disgusting excuse for a human being
this guy is.
This sick, twisted individual hates America with a burning passion, but
continues to live here because we have the best standard of living in
the world. What a hypocrite. People who supports this guy (e.g.
liberals) are equally as guilty.

With all the hubbub surrounding this guy I was expecting some cutting
edge raw thinking in his material- boy was I disappointed. Having just
earned my juris doctorate, I think seven years of college gives me a
fairly fresh perspective on this stuff. I have been listening to these
arguments(or variations on this theme) in poly sci, economics, social
justice and the law, anthropology, etc. for years.
The one thing that fascinates me above all others, is the robotic
nature of humanity. My college years taught me one thing very well:
whether you're talking about the left or the right, they're all just
just a bunch of clones parroting back the same old story about how
their way of viewing the world is so vastly superior to anyone who
opposes them. And they use the most vile terms to describe anyone who
dares challenge their world view. You listen to them long enough and
you begin to realize two things: a broken record gets boring no matter
how much you like the music, and, people(both teachers and students)
who can actually think for themselves are rarely found on any campus.

I was really expecting something a lot more thought provoking. There's
nothing new, or even original, here (and poorly organized).If you're
easily led,and looking to stay that way,this will be the perfect book
for you, as it requires little thought and no critical analysis.
Everything in black and white.
Ward Churchill is like most men driven by anger and hatred, he can't
see past the demons that drive him. Like Robespierre, or the grand
inquisitors, he sees himself as carrying out a virtous cause, but thank
the gods this man has no real power, god only knows the horrors he
would unleash. Like all of us, he seeks to find and understand his
place in the world (so much so that he made up a farce that he is
native american, which was conclusively proven not to be true 10 years
ago). But unlike many of us, he uses anger and hatred to lash out at
the world, as opposed to constructive persuasive with which he might
actually change the world. I pity this small man for the burden he must
bear.

I read it, and I didn't like it. It was very repetitive, saying the
same things over and over. I also felt it was poorly organized. It
seemed very biased and very negative. It is a hate filled book.

Sick And Depraved, February 4, 2005

The man who wrote this book claimed that the 3,000 U.S. civilians who
died on 9/11 deserved their gruesome deaths. Ward Churchill said that
those who died were "Little Eichmans" working for the evil US
military-industrial complex. Thus, Mexican busboys, Russian and Chinese
chefs, New York firemen and the 4-year-old girl on one of the hijacked
planes were all "little Nazis" who "had it coming". This is the logic
of the slaughterhouse from a man who has spent his life spewing out
hatred for the country that pays his salary at a US university. To
understand the kind of person who enjoys Churchill's books just read
one of the reviews below where the reviewer claims that President Bush
is 1.000 times worse than Hitler. So, as Hitler caused the deaths of
over 60 million in WW2 then Bush must be responsible for over SIXTY
THOUSAND MILLION DEATHS !!! Hitler killed 6 million in concentration
camps so Bush must have killed SIX THOUSAND MILLION in hidden
concentration camps!! Yes, this is the kind of insane , sick logic that
Churchill's books inspire in the self-haters of America. The fact that
the "evil American Empire" strangely allows Churchill to lecture at a
US university and lets him publish his books shows how stupid and
hollow his arguments are. He claims, falsely, to be Native American and
was arrested for spitting in the face of a female Tribal elder who
organised his removal from an Indian lobby group. . The fact that the
woman was lying on the ground (having been knocked over by one of
Churchilll's friends) when Churchill spat in her face shows the kind of
man he is. The book itself is a ranting, twisted rehash of every
anti-US story that the extreme Left have thrown up since the 1950s. A
waste of paper, a waste of trees and the waste of a human brain. Sad,
very sad.

That's quite a few negatives considering the fact that most people who
like this sort of book are drawn to it and would read it, whereas the
people that would NOT like it would probably shun it and never read it.
So that many negative reviews tells me a lot about the book.
