I suspect that you are telling us how YOU use usenet. I doubt that many
'most' statements are true. There are a LOT of different news readers and
people use their readers in different ways.
I don't look at the last article in a thread. I am not sure that 'most
readers' do.
My favorite news reader, xnews, shows me who posted the FIRST unread
message in a thread[unless that person is in my kill file, in which case I
never see any of their posts].
If you don't like what someone says, killfile them and you will never see
them again unless you read a reply that quotes part of what they posted.
Ignore the trolls. Feeding them just encourages them to post again.
