Richard White,
It's a wee bit more complicated than just tossing out an anchor having
an extremely long tether. As you seem to understand, there are certain
variables and somewhat testy issues to contend with. However, as to the
composite basalt/silica tether of something that'll mostlikely exceed
4.8 GPa (especially since that's being produced upon the O2-free moon),
as that's way more than sufficient for the task at hand.

"Richard White; I like the LSE proposal above. Somehow they reckon
that a 58,500 km (36,360 mile) 'TETHER' (!) can be suspended from a
point in space where terrestrial/lunar gravity are equal and cancel
each other out.

BTW; This isn't the same (Bad News for 'Moon Hoax' Buffs) story/topic
as offered in sci.physics

There's better or at least different contributors and perhaps somewhat
better hard-science by 'bz', myself and the likes of 'tj Frazir'
that'll keep knocking your socks off. As to the LSE topic; that one
needs another fresh start, along with some reasonaly good anti-flak
reinforcements to boot.

This same topic that's in sci.physics that needs some reinforcements,
some feedback and lots of suitable body armor that'll protect your ***
from the sorts of flak the mainstream status quo has at their
dog-wagging disposal.

I believe myself and 'tj Frazir' have located a few of those WMD,
possibly even Osama bin Laden that's been camping out on our dusty
moon. Thus perhaps we should start nuking the living hell out of our
moon so that there's no possible chance of any impact remains of
anything Apollo could possibly survive, as that's about the one and
only option our NASA/Apollo rusemasters haven't utilized.

This last part is contributed for the ongoing benefit of others (topic
newcomers), and not that it matters to those without a stitch of
remorse outside of whatever appeases their NASA/Apollo cold-war or bust
God, as in spite of their flak and within my spare dyslexic time I've
slightly polished on my external 'gv-topics' page, and I'm working on
other pages as soon to be improved. As I learn more that can be
independently supported by sufficient hard-science, I'll share that
knowledge, which will likely include revisions and retractions of what
I've offered thus far. Unfortunately, since I'm unfunded and on the
usual 'need-to-know' bases with regard to anything that might rock a
mainstream boat, this process is going to take many thousands of my
lose cannon shots before the truth and nothing but the truth is going
be told. And I bet you thought big and fully loaded aircraft smashing
into fully occupied tall buildings was as bad as it gets; think again.
