Your skin is squeezed a bit and You
can feel this a while on, after the
hat was taken off ,until the skin
is relaxed again.
Your interpretation of what You feel
is incorrect, and Your hands will tell
You the truth, when You rubb or
scratch the itchy skin.
(and actually they told You that they took the
hat off, but You didn't listen to them).
Did You try the candle ?
