Yes-- the *unification* of electricity and magnetism Maxwell achieved profoundly affected Einstein.
However Einstein's
approaches were sui generis. Who else would have had the cojones to revive Newton's particulate theory of light? And getting past our prejudices concerning the absoluteness of time was a gigantic accomplishment. Even Lorentz who had the same equations in hand, did not make the leap.
