Having charge simply means that the particle participates in the
electromagnetic interaction. Some particles participate in some, some
participate in all. Electrons, for example, participate in
gravitational, weak, and electromagnetic interactions, but not the
strong. Quarks participate in all four. Neutrinos appear to interact in
only two.
A head-breaking question is whether there is any particle that does not
participate in any of the interactions, but exists anyway. If it does,
what good is it in the universe?
