I believe the Earth is slowing *more* than is being expressed in
the Earth-Moon system as a decreased lunar period.

We still have the issue of lack of conservation of angular
momentum, but we have that anyway. Likely easily attributed to
"gravitational waves". I don't think this is the right place to
be looking for a "deal breaker".
