Its not going to go down any more that comets are dirty snow balls, and
the sun's heat turns the ice to gas and that comet tail is reflected
vapor. I don't think so. Have a much more realistic theory. First
comet tail are 100,000,000 miles long.No comet that's 10 miles in
diameter can create such a long tail. What creates the tail is when the
comet gets closer to the Sun (Its inner solar system) Here very strong
particles that are greatly charged rub against Temple-1 as it is moving
at 70.000 mph Keep in mind that the charge particles that make up this
wind are moving over a million miles per hour. Here is the particles and
energy that give tails to asteroids that have great elliptical orbits.
Best to keep in mind when comets come back going around the Sun the head
is trying to catch its tail. Only the Sun's solar wind can make that
reality. If these small comets could make such long tails by spewing
out their gas they would not last long. My theory they will last as
long as the Sun's solar wind blows, and that's for another 5 billion
years. Here on Earth we only have to look towards the north pole to see
the beautiful lights the solar wind plays on the magnetic field as the
Earth's particles flow from south pole to north. Well that's the way I
see comets. Most of the universe we see by refection, but comet tails are
direct light. Beert
