Bull***. These detectors have been around since the 50's and easily detect
your "materials", no problem.
They have been fielded since before the collapse of the USSR.

Impracticable
NMR, only within a few feet, and no steel or iron near at all.
Gasoline is an explosive, so is sawdust.
