it loses energy because
by coming closer there is some friction
between sub particles of both sides
there is no room' for those sub particles
at the same volume
so some of them have to give up and pop out
just metaphorically
suppose a family that is growing by adding more people to the same
apartment
more and more people until some of them
give up and leave the place
(with a big noise of anger (:-)
now as i said
energy is mass in motion
and the mass in the particles is alway with an endless motion.
