Who I'd like to hire
In a previous post, I discussed the worth of a person with a PhD in
Physics and I agree with one reply who thought such people were best
hired as consultants when needed. The person I'd really like to hire
(as an employee) would be a M.S. Physics with very strong experimental
background, no coursework masters, thesis needed. Basically a
duplicate of myself. A BS level person who did well in advanced lab
would also be good. I think such people are a better use of resources
for very general work.
