The Proton's Strange Magnetism

The proton is made of three quarks--two up quarks and one down
quark--but other types constantly flit into and out of existence. The
26 August PRL provides the first detailed picture of strange quarks in
this mix and indicates that they make a significant contribution to the
proton's properties. About 5% of the proton's magnetic moment comes
from strange quarks, according to the results, although theoretical
predictions have been ten times smaller.

Very interrestin' indeed,
Our 'theory' now shows us just how much easier it will be to create a strangelet by accident inside the LHC... at least TEN times easier than most nattering naybobs think. Just how much easier will future theory (reality corrected) show us that having an 'accelerator accident' will be? Do we need Alfred E. Newman telling us to start worrying before something horribly bad happens??

Cheap!

The discrepancy highlights the
serious limitations in the current calculation techniques.

TRANSLATION into human-speak: "The discrepency highlights the almost total ignorance humanity presently has regarding the chances of creating a world devouring cancer. Current calculation techniques show us, however crudly, that it may be *much easier* to destroy the world than had been previously thought..."
