I may be an idiot, but that does not make me wrong.

It costs $20,000 per year, on average, to keep someone incarcerated in the
big zoo. This is approximately the annual salary of someone who earns about
$8 per hour. So, we are basically payrolling people to sit behind bars and
do absolutely nothing - except possibly perfecting their hatred of
everything.

Even if they make mudpies for 8 hours a day, it would be more profitable
than having them sit in a cell and do absolutely nothing.

2.5 million inmates * 8 hours per day * 5 work days per week * 52 weeks per
year =
2 500 000 * 8 * 5 * 52 = 5,200,000,000 man hours per year

5,200,000,000 man hours per year [wasted].

This is also the amount of work which one man could perform if he worked a
40 hour week for 2.5 million years.

This is a staggering waste of human ability.

I dont know where you get your information, but you're in for a rude
awakening if you ever get a record for anything. There are even people out
there who cant find work because someone stole their identity which
generated a criminal history, and they never even commited a crime - but
they are denied employment based on bad info.

Who has the authority to impose punishment on the convicted ? Is it a free
for all ? Or is that the State's job ? You seem rather eager yourself. Well,

No, not really. In fact, my ideas in this area are really pretty inspired.
The fact that you choose to be angry and have tantrums makes me wonder if
such social problems will ever be solved. Your insistence on politicizing
this thing is most disturbing of all. I think that you are stuck on liberal
vs. conservative viewpoints, and the reality on the street has absolutely
