Hello,
If I apply a vibration to a brass plate of 2-1/2 X 1-1/2 X 1/8 thick: Does the vibration travel better in the cast direction of the plate? Or it is negligible? My question is related to the design of a bass brige.
Thank you for your assistance, Thierry
If crystal structure did have a significant effect on sound propagation (and I am not making the claim, just setting up a hypothetical), then the properties of any individual piece of brass would depend on its thermal and mechanical history, since heat treatment or mechanical stresses could alter the crystal structure.
Are you up for some experiments? .
