Fine. So why do you want to add another frame of
reference when you've already got a perfectly good
one to begin with? Surely the observer's frame of
reference is as good as any other? If not, what
would make another frame any better or more "at
rest"?

We add another frame because we wanted to
determine the others frames views of the starting frame.
