If you listen to Descartes philosophy, that which we regard as bringing
out of the dark ages, he would say that only that which demands that I
accept it as fact, because I cannot come up with any other possible
cause.
That is how stringent you have to be, to ascertain the truth.
The rest is just supposition, speculation, and the imaginings of those
who believe they know a thing when in fact they could be easily fooled.
And maybe that is why physics has done so well.
It has for the most part, stuck to this rigid discipline, of only
accepting those things which it must.
