If someone was to ask me who inspires me as a scientist, it would be
Tesla - as a good example and a terrible warning. His work with AC is
remarkable and he is largely revered in Electrical engineering - but
his later work degenerated in crank science. Its a warning to us all
who want to push back the frontiers of knowledge. Sometimes those ideas
that seem alien or unreal are TRULY crap.

Tesla isnt alone in the journey from heroic genius to pure crankness. I was
reading a bit about William Shockley in this weeks New Scientist which made
me think of the numerous cranks here..
