Re: Swing and momentum

I didn't succeed with the two different swivel chairs available in my
office. One had so good bearings that I could not even make it work a
single time; the other has so much friction that although I can
acquire an angular momentum for a short time, I am stopped by the
friction before I get a chance to try another "acceleration cycle".

Perhaps after you've read my other reply you would like to repeat the
experiment while flapping your arms up and down. Preferrably while
other people are in the office. :-)

I'd try it right now, since I'm sitting in a swivel chair in the
privacy of my own home, but unfortunately, as the saying goes, I don't
have enough room to swing a cat in.
