Nope. Parallax can be effective to very long distances. (not the 500million
light year sort of distances though).

The key part is, it matches at the distances we can use it.

Its not just parralax though. There are standard candles such as
Faber-Jackson and Tully Fisher, SN and Cepheids, and the other parallax
(Statistical parallax).

Of all the others I would be willing to admit that FJ and TF could be
argued against (re:scaling) but with Cepheids not so much so - and one
of the HST's original foci was to look at cepheids.
