<spamless@xxxxxxxxxx> Gave us:
turbochargers just get more O2 into the cylinder, and more fuel, therefore
more power.
No ***. What do you think "higher cylinder pressures" equates to?
It is a denser O2 charge, not more fuel diesels are injected.
An injected four stroke gets injected AS a slug of air is introduced
via the intake ports, then the compression/power stroke and ignition
occurs. The pressure of that O2 /fuel slug at just before bottom dead
center in the cylinder is what a turbocharger/supercharger raises.
A diesel gets injected right at or just before top dead center ON
the start of the power stroke The ALREADY compressed, hot O2 slug is
already in place. Turbocharging a diesel does not necessitate the use
of more fuel, though more is typically used.
