Just before retirement from a physics teaching job I'm faced with the

the picture I had was the fullest possible.
Power instead of force. Simple but powerful, literally.

While at first glance the maths seems ok, the metaphysics seems quite
redundant and to a large extent arbitrary. What do you find so amazing?
Also, GR replaced Newtonian mechanics, so why find a way to replicate
Newtonian mechanics? What does that really get you?
