I might be misreading your post here, but basically the expansion is in all
directions, so the "shape" (in as much as an infinite object can have shape)
is retained.
It might help me understand what you mean if you explain a bit more. What
would you expect to happen to the shape?
What I expected may happen is the creation of black holes as more areas
are pinched of by the expansion.
