Hi Franklin_Hu, Relativity hasn't failed us, you've failed to understand it.
The speed of light in a vacuum is a constant
for the same reason the speed of sound in an atmosphere is constant.
But a vacuum has no wind, only photons can travel that fast,
and nothing ( no information ) can travel faster.
Nothing can travel faster than a photon because
it'd take infinite acceleration ( infinite directed energy )
to accelerate something with a non-zero rest mass.
Further, such energies/accelerations would incinerate it.
Eu-singularities can't exist for a similar reason;
they couldn't possibly radiate infinite energy at their event horizons.
Eu-vacuums also can't exist for a similar reason;
it'd take infinite directed energy to create a perfect vacuum.
General Relativity explains exactly how today's gravity/density/pressure
is left-over from a once-infinitely-denser universe.
At cosmic scales ( say giga light-years ) the geometry of spacetime
is always flat ( i.e. Omega_Total is always 1 ).
In other words, there's no center of gravity and,
barring dark energy's negative pressure, it neither collapses nor expands.
Dark energy is the negative pressure where,
using General_Relativity's field equations and e = m * c^2,
given Omega_Total always equals 1, Omega_Lambda always equals .74,
and w always equals -1 :
Pressure_Cosmos always equals: - ( .74 / .26 ) * Density_Matter * c^2
( the positive pressure of radiation is insignificant ).

Putting aside the virtual infinite density at this pseudo-singularity,
Planck density alone implies _Huge_ negavite pressure, _Rapid_ cooling.
The Geodesic that goes from the earth to the _Visible_ birth of the CMB
is the fifth _Spatial_ dimension ( and it's a function of cosmic pressure, P ).
Please notice that a spatial dimension _must_ be demarcated as
a length ( e.g. SI meters ), either directly or by a conversion, e.g. c * t.
This is far, far different from saying
hamburgers or the smell of flowers are _Spatial_ dimensions,
because every point in spacetime lies within this cosmic pressure field.
Just as no point at X occupies two Y positions ( or it'd be a line ),
no point at X,Y,Z,T occupies two P postions.
Natural/absolute causality sends X,Y,Z,T postions through P positions.
Imagine two points on different ( ideal ) event horizons.
The SI second takes an eternity there, so no time passes;
likewise, the SI meter is infinitely wide, so no volume exists.
Now imagine how, with cosmological time,
the distance to the _Visible_ birth of the CMB grows ever-larger.
The length of that geodesic is one way to express the negative pressure.
The geodesic is hyperbolic with an ever-diminishing curvature,
looking like the spokes coming out of this 3D graph of an ideal black hole:

The dimensions are:
High_Negative_Pressure to Low_Negative_Pressure,
past to future, left to right, etc.
Because they are spatial, they are static and geometrically symmetric
( i.e. the model works forwards and/or backwards in pressure ).
In fact, it's impossible to grid the cosmos with less than 5D.
This Pressure_Scape can be demarcated in length or time ( or even entropy ).
Further, because the beam of an atom laser
has a pressure as well as a period and a wavelength,
SI pressure ( i.e. the SI kilogram, after conversions )
can be expressed as X oscillations of an atom laser,
similar to how the SI second is Y oscillations and
the SI meter is Z oscillations.
