I think I can answer that. Pole flipping implies that the earth
flips physically. People automatically think "north pole" not
magnetic north pole. The conclusion is made that the air
won't physically flip with with earth.

Well, you might be right, I sometimes underestimate the levels of
prevalent ignoration.

IIRC, I didn't learn that there was a difference between north pole
and maganetic north pole until much later in life.

Then you never navigated by a compass, I guess.
