The Ohio State University
One open post-doctoral position is available in the area of
nanoindentation (modeling and experiment). The position is supported
from research grants and intended for several years. Latest model of
MTS XP/DCM nanoindenter with nanotable for imaging is available. Strong
background in solid mechanics (plasticity), FEA and molecular dynamics
are required. Some experimental skills are preferable.
The activity will include
1) Nanoindentation characterization of engine materials (mainly Ni
superalloys) and 2) Mechanical characterization of small scale surface
modification of thin films after small scale processing. In the second
area it is expected to interact with the activities in the Laboratory
for Multiscale Processing and Characterization as a part of a newly
established OSU National Science Foundation Nanoscale Science and
Engineering Center (NSEC). More details will be provided to interested
individuals.
