Ultrasound transmission through a probe/catheter/needle

Hello,
I am currently working on a project that needs visualisation of a very
thin catheter that has been sited into the body. Is it possible to pass
ultrasound through the catheter (flushed with saline) and visualise it
with an ultrasound machine from outside the body? Would a normal
ultrasound machine suffice for thsi purpose? Thanks in advance.
