Has anyone found a theory explaining how they are finding past events

The hebrew alphabet is number based and the so=called Bible Code uses
Hebrew words which produce number strings.
Does it follow that any long string of numbers with any sort of logical
arrangement (such as would be understandable text) would produce
"looked for" results? If it were a random string of characters and
they were finding stuff, I would be scared, but the Bible text, though
a little confusing and contradictory, is hardly random characters.
I would really like some input on this. It's bugging me and I know
there's a simple, logical explanation.
Yes, the equation is very simple
